Job Title: Senior C++ Software Engineer Cross-Platform Desktop Applications
Location: Hybrid (3 days remote), Toronto, Canada
Experience Level: 8+ Years
Role Summary: NearSource is looking for a Senior C++ Software Engineer to modernize cross-platform desktop applications used across the VFX and design software ecosystem. Join our engineering team working on a project with a Fortune 500 product company.
Key Responsibilities
- Modernize desktop applications by upgrading dependencies to align with VFX Reference Platform standards
- Design, develop, and implement robust software components using C++ and
- Support and install software applications across Windows, Linux, and macOS environments
- Participate in testing processes including code reviews, test analysis, and certification
- Collaborate with engineering leads to plan and execute toolchain updates including compilers and libraries
- Contribute to the development and optimization of build pipelines using CMake and Conan
- Ensure code quality and version control using Git and modern development tools
Must-Have Skills
- Proficient in C++ development for desktop applications
- Strong experience with in cross-platform build environments
- Hands-on with Windows, Linux, and macOS development
- Experience with Conan and CMake for dependency and build management
- Familiarity with Git and modern development environments like VSCode
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Exposure to VFX platforms such as Maya, 3DS Max, and MotionBuilder
- Familiarity with GitHub Co-Pilot or AI-assisted coding tools
- Experience working with tools like Cursor for collaborative development
Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
